Lalitpur Power Generation Company Limited, part of the Shishir Bajaj Group, has commissioned a 660 MW plant at Lalitpur in Bundelkhand district of UP on Tuesday.

The project is part of 1,980 MW thermal power project, and the remaining two units, each of 660 MW, will be commissioned in the next few months.

CM Akhilesh Yadav said the power plant, linked to the power grid, was set up with supercritical technology and will help in providing cost-efficient electricity to consumers creating direct and indirect employment. Chairman of the Lalitpur Power Generation Company Limited, Kushagra Bajaj met the CM recently and assured him to start the unit at the earliest.

The commissioning of the plant establishes the group as a major power producer in UP where it is already operating 450 MW of thermal projects. The Bajaj Group has its presence in sugar, power and personal care segment.
